In 1999 the African-American Williams sisters paired up to win their first grand slam doubles title at the French Open by taming the clay courts of Roland Garros. They claimed their second Australian Open doubles title in January 2003, by defeating Pascual and Suarez in three sets. A family tragedy, which robbed the girls of their elder sister in September 2003, seemed to put the lid on their illustrious careers.

The incredible sisters had now achieved an awesome career Grand Slam in doubles to add to their singles triumphs.

In 2007 the sisters requested a wild card at Wimbledon and got it. This began a slow, but sure upward move on the rankings, in both singles and doubles. Although they have been relatively inactive since 2003 due to injury and fatigue, there is no ways these two tennis players will ever give up.
