Australian Open 2008 Day Twelve Preview

Men’s Singles Semi-finals: Roger Federer plays Novak Djokovic

The world number one, Roger Federer will take on the third seed, and number three in the world, Serb, Novak Djokovic in the remaining semi final clash of the tournament.

Djokovic is no slouch with the racquet – he has seven career wins including the ATP Masters Series in Miami where he downed Guillermo Canas in three sets, and the ATP Masters Series in Montreal where he famously beat his rival, Roger Federer in a real thriller.

He has been in great form recently, winning 78% of his matches in 2007. He made it to the semi finals at both the French Open and Wimbledon, and contested the final at the US Open, only to be downed by the very same man, Roger Federer.

He has had a relatively easy road to the semi finals, beating, amongst others, 19th seed Lleyton Hewitt and 5th seed David Ferrer in three sets.

Federer, on the other hand hasn’t been performing at his brilliant best, yet he has still made it through to the semis. He had a real challenge in the third round when he was stretched to five sets by another Serb, Janko Tipsarevic, but since then he has made easy meat of his opponents.

Do not underestimate the best player in the world – he is on the hunt for a 13th grand slam, and a fourth Australian open crown, and no-one is going to deny him easily.
