Serena  Williams claimed her 5th Australian Open title on Saturday, defeating Justine Henin of Belgium 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in the 2010 Australian Open women's final.

Williams was in control from early on in the match, and raced to an early lead by taking the first set. Henin then struck back in the second to level matters at a set apiece.

However, it was Williams, who has dominated Henin on hard courts in the past, who was to have the last word, as the American trounced Henin 6-2 in the final set to defend the title she won in 2009.

Williams can add her singles title to the doubles title she claimed alongside sister, Venus, in Melbourne on Friday. The victory is also likely to cement Williams' grasp on the number one ranking in the WTA Tour.
