2008 Australian Open Men's Singles

Serbian Novak Djokovic (ranked World #3) pushed through to the final round of the 2008 Australian Open without conceding a single set to an opponent. He overcame Roger Federer, the 2007 Australian Open champion, in the semi-finals with a straight set score of 7–5, 6–3, 7–6(5).

The 2008 Australian Open Men's Singles tennis final pitted Novak Djokovic against France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a unseeded young player who surprised fans by defeating four seeded players during the early stages. Tsonga crushed Rafael Nadal (ranked World #2) with a straight set in the semi-finals: 6–2, 6–3, 6–2.
 
After losing the first game of the final match to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Novak Djokovic came back to claim the 2008 Australian Open Men's Singles tennis title with a final score of 4–6, 6–4, 6–3, 7–6(2). His victory marked his 8th career title and the first for 2008.

2008 Australian Open Women's Singles

The 2007 Australian Open winner, Serena Williams, was eliminated by Jelena Jankovic in quarterfinal match.

After beating Jelena Jankovic is the semi-final, Russian Maria Sharapova (ranked World #9) saw victory in the final match against Serbian Ana Ivanovic with a score of 7–5, 6–3 to claim her 17th tennis title. She lost only 10 service points during the entire final match and won every set of the tournament.

2008 Australian Open Men's Doubles

Israel's Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram made their country proud with the first Men's Doubles Grand Slam trophy for two Israeli players. The two tennis players claimed their first Grand Slam victory when they beat France's Arnaud Clément and France Michaël Llodra with straight sets in the 2008 Australian Open Men's Doubles final: 7–5, 7–6(4).

2008 Australian Open Women's Doubles

Ukraine's Alyona Bondarenko and her younger sibling, Kateryna Bondarenko, were up against a Belarus's Victoria Azarenka and Israel's Shahar Pe'er in the Australian Open Women's Doubles Final. Th Ukrainian sister duo won with a score of 2–6, 6–1, 6–4.

2008 Australian Open Mixed Doubles

The 2008 Australian Open Mixed Doubles event saw China's Sun Tiantian and Serbia's Nenad Zimonjić defeat an Indian team of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi: 7–6(4), 6–4. This marked Tiantian's first ever Grand Slam Tennis title.
